The Superpowers of STEM

Some of the very best careers for graduating seniors are in the STEM fields. The economic success and welfare of our nation depends upon an educated workforce prepared to enter lucrative engineering fields. Yet, few students dream of becoming engineers when they grow up. Like the story of Stephanie Hill, students often fall into engineering fields on their way to other educational and career pursuits.

At Saginaw Academy of Excellence, we get children excited about STEM from the very beginning. Our goal is to make sure our students know that top-paying, fulfilling STEM jobs are well within their reach! Hear more about how Stephanie went from becoming an accidental engineer to executive vice president of Rotary and Mission Systems (RMS) for Lockheed Martin Corporation.

Understanding STEM Learning

STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, but did you know that STEM learning blurs the lines between each of these subject areas? In schools that embrace a STEM approach, there’s a special interconnectivity between subjects. Teachers create bridges between science and math and technology and engineering and vice versa—they even integrate STEM approaches to learning in language arts and performing arts.

At Saginaw Academy of Excellence, your child is a part of a dynamic learning community with STEM education at its heart. Find out more about how STEM learning works by watching this video produced by The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine.
